Aged care and home care

Know the cash position before the board or the regulator asks.

Funding, care delivery and payroll do not move on the same timetable. A practising aged care CFO helps you see the gap early, explain it clearly and decide what to do before it becomes urgent.

Does this sound familiar?

  • A reported loss does not make sense and you need to know why.

  • The board wants a clear answer about viability, not another spreadsheet.

What happens first?

We start with your most pressing decision. After the call, we reconcile the key balances, examine cash timing and agree the reporting the CEO and board actually need.

From the work

When the numbers stop being a worry you carry alone.

Anonymised client examples. Names and identifying details are withheld. These are individual outcomes, not a promise of the same result for every business.

Home care provider

Their accounts said they were insolvent. They weren’t.

The situation
A founder-led Support at Home provider opened its July accounts to a large loss and negative net assets. The regulator’s quarterly report had already been lodged.
What we found
$41.4K of credit notes had been backdated after the quarterly report went in. $83.6K of receipts was about to be recoded and counted twice. The loss came from accounting errors, not from the business. Unpaid PAYG withholding also raised personal penalty risk for directors.
What we did
We fixed the ledger in the right order and took the compliance risk straight to the CEO. Then we wrote a six-policy financial manual to reduce the risk of it happening again.
The result
About $125K of errors caught before they reached the regulator again. The directors’ PAYG exposure was cleared.

Multi-entity aged care provider

Nine problems in one year’s accounts. The team had never done a month-end close.

The situation
A two-entity aged care group with a keen but inexperienced finance team was facing its first Aged Care Financial Report.
What we found
Nine issues in the year’s accounts. The biggest was grouped payroll tax calculated wrongly across the two entities, leading to penalties and interest. Depreciation was missing and June revenue was under-recognised.
What we did
We wrote a month-end manual using their own accounts and figures, then walked the team through their first full close.
The result
The team now closes the month on its own, to an auditable standard. The payroll tax calculation was corrected.

Before we talk

Do you work with both residential care and Support at Home?

Yes. The funding and reporting differ, so the forecasts and controls need to reflect the service. We support both residential providers and home care businesses.

Can you prepare board and regulator reporting?

We support board papers, Finance and Audit Committee reporting and financial viability submissions. Management and directors remain responsible for approval and lodgement; an independent audit or legal advice may also be required.

Do we need to be in Melbourne?

No. FrankCFO is headquartered in Melbourne and works remotely with clients across Australia. The first conversation is free and does not require you to send accounts in advance.

First step: a free 30-minute look at your numbers.

No paperwork needed before we talk. Tell us what is worrying you, and we will work out whether we can help. If a review makes sense, we agree what to look at after the call.
